Afternoon Indie Films: Spirit of the Wind

Saturday, October 5, 2024 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

A free monthly film screening for the community, the library's Afternoon Indie Film events will frequently feature top film selections from the Wild Rivers Film Festival and include Q&As or community discussions, led by Film Festival staff and volunteers, after the screening.

Spirit of the Wind is a true life story of George Attla, famous Alaskan dog sled driver.  Set in the 1950s, this film explores the ways in which a disabled Athabaskan youth comes to terms with both his disability and the cultural conflicts he experiences through his gift for dog sledding.  Writers Ralph Liddle and John Logue bring empathy and inspiration to the fore in this beautifully crafted family adventure story. Spirit of the Wind will screen at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 5, as a free event for the community, so plan to bring your friends and family!

Afternoon Indie Films are presented by the Chetco Library and the Wild Rivers Film Festival.
